Media  

The Media tab in the Configure Printers dialog (Figure 1) allows you to control your media settings as well as manage, import, and export media.

 

  1. Highlight your printer, and click the "Configure Printers" icon on the toolbar, or select Setup > Configure Printers. This opens the "Configure Printer" dialog.
  2. Select the [Media] tab (Figure 1), and choose your settings.
  3. Click [OK].

 

The [Media Type] drop-down list allows you to change views from one type of media (i.e., Dye, UV) to another.

 

The [Options...] button opens the "Printer Settings" dialog. These options are dependent on your printer. Click the [Help] button in the "Printer Settings" dialog to open the Printer Help files associated with that printer, or click Help > Active Printer Help > Your Printer.

 

The [Mode Options...] button adding to configure specific options for the mode. This option is not available with all printers.

 

The [Delete] option removes the selected Media. You can restore that media by going to the Printer Install and reinstalling that media.

 

The [Page Sizes...] option allows you to determine which page sizes you want to use for your media. Clicking the[ Page Sizes] button opens the "Media Page Size" dialog (Figure 2).

  • Use Global Page Sizes - This option automatically selects all Global Page Sizes.
  • Specify Page Sizes for Media - This option allows you to determine which Page Sizes you want to use by placing a check next to the Page Sizes you want to use.

 

The [Import...] option allows you to import media used on one printer to another printer.

 

To import media:

  1. From the [Media] tab, click [Import] button, and browse to the location of the media you want to import.
  2. Under the Files of Type drop-down menu, choose Media Library Files (*.OML) to import an OML file, choose PRNLIB Files (*.PRNLIB) to import media from a [.prnlib] and [.printer] file, or Printer Install Files (*.PrnInst) to import media from a [.PrnInst] file.
  3. Select the file you want to import.
  4. Click [Open].
  5. Select the media you want to import. If you want to automatically overwrite existing media with the same name, mark the [Overwrite Existing Media] check-box.
  6. Click [Import].

 

NOTE: While you can import media from one printer to another printer, the printers must be compatible in order to share media.

 

The [Export...] option allows you to export media used on one printer to another printer.

 

To export media:

  1. In the [Media] tab, click [ Export] button.
  2. Select the media that you want to export, and click [Export] button. This opens the "Save Media Library As" dialog.
  3. Browse to the location where you would like to save the media, and enter a name for the media.
  4. Click [ Save].

 

NOTE: While you can export media from one printer to another printer, the printers must be compatible in order to share media.
