LPT Printer Port

This port commonly known as the parallel port or printer port, is the easiest port to configure. However, it is also the slowest port. Most computers come with just one LPT port, although it is recommended to add an additional LPT port to your system if you will be printing using LPT.

Most computers come with just one LPT port, although it is recommended to add an additional LPT port to your system if you will be printing using LPT. NOTE: Printing with the TCP/IP Printer Port is usually considerably faster and will eliminate possible problems with the parallel port. To configure the LPT Printer Port: In the Configure Printer Port dialog, select [LPT]. You may have more than one LPT port available depending on the number of parallel port slots you have available. If the [Configure] button is available, click it to set Advanced LPT options. You should only modify these options if you have problems with the LPT port. Select your Mode using the drop-down list. If you are unsure of which Mode your printer uses, contact your system administrator or refer to the printer documentation. Set your [Direct Memory Access (DMA)] options, and click [OK]. Use DMA (Direct Memory Access) If you use the [ECP] or [Fast Centronix] mode, then you have the option of specifying a [DMA] channel.
