Clicking [Add Windows Font] button automatically adds all available Windows fonts to "Font Manager".

This option allows RIP-Queue to use the font. Before you can add a font, it must be found on your system or network.  

 

To add a font to "Font Manager":

1. Click [Add Font] button.
2. Browse to the folder that contains the fonts you want to add.
3. Select the fonts you want to add.
4. If you want RIP-Queue to reference the font from its original location, check the [Install without copying files] checkbox. Typically, it's better to copy files over to RIP-Queue.
5. Click [Add].

 

NOTE: Double-byte, Composite, and Encrypted fonts cannot be added to RIP-Queue using "Font Manage"]. These font types must be added using Send Font to Jaws RIP.

A Substitution is a font name that points to a specific font in "Font Manager". For example, if a file uses a font called TimesSpecial, but you do not have access to that font, you may add a substitution font called TimesSpecial that uses a similar font such as Times New Roman. [Substitution] may also be used to reference a different name for a font.

 

To add a [Substitution Font]:

1. From "Font Manager" dialog, click [Add Substitution] button. This opens the PS Font Substitute Creation dialog (Figure 3).
2. Enter the name of the font that is not available as the Substitute Name.
3. Select the font that you have available in the [Actual Font] field.
4. Click [OK].

 

NOTE: PostScript font names are case sensitive. Substitute fonts use the font properties from the original font. This may cause unexpected results with some fonts.

 

Deleting a substitute only removes the substitute reference and does not delete the original font.

This option selects all fonts currently loaded in "Font Manager".

To delete a font from "Font Manager":

1. Select one or more fonts you want to delete. System and ATM fonts cannot be deleted.

2. Click [Delete]. The fonts will be removed from RIP-Queue.

 

When fonts are deleted using "Font Manager", they are only removed from RIP-Queue. Any fonts used by Windows, Adobe Type Manager, or other font managing systems will not be affected.

Because RIP-Queue can reference font files from any location, problems may occur if a font file is deleted or modified. To verify that the fonts listed in :Font Manager" are valid, select the fonts you want to validate, and click [Validate] button.
